Dave Gibson – Pastor
What I Do:
I am on the teaching team at Christ Fellowship. I assist the senior pastor and other members of the team in explaining the Word of God and motivating life change.
What I Love About Christ Fellowship:
I love the leadership, the worship, the small groups, the outreach focus, the mission, the intentionality, the grace and truth relationships, the spiritual maturity, the striving, the men’s ministry, the whole place!
How I Ended Up at Christ Fellowship:
When Kathi and I moved to McKinney in 2012 we signed up for a checking account at a local bank and the woman who was helping us took a Christ Fellowship business card out of her desk drawer and invited us to attend. After worship on our second Sunday, we attended a First Step class. We listened, prayed, looked at each other and said, “Why would we look anywhere else?”
Before Christ Fellowship:
Kathi and I have been on a long, winding path–meeting and getting married and graduating college in Montana, working in Montana, attending Dallas Seminary, teaching at Alaska Bible College, pastoring in Idaho, pastoring in Houston, and now ministering cross-culturally from here in Dallas in addition to preaching periodically at Christ Fellowship.
How I Met Jesus:
After eight years of fear and searching, I came to faith at the age of 19 by reading a handwritten Bible tract and studying the Gospel of John. I was a sophomore in college and trusted Christ alone in my room. Everything changed! I am indescribably grateful for Jesus and his gift of salvation.
Favorite Bible Verse:
“He will make known to me the path of life. In his presence is fullness of joy. In his right hand are pleasures forever” Psalm 16:11.
Backpacking, writing, reading, woodworking, traveling and quilting. (The last one is just a joke! My wife Kathi is a professional quilter and I am not allowed anywhere near the quilt machine!)
Random Fun Fact:
I was born in Valentine, Nebraska and spent the first year of my life in the town of He Dog, South Dakota on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation.
