What I Do:
My goal is to build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry (in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission and outreach) while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.
I provide oversight of middle and high school youth students in their walk with the Lord. I acquaint myself personally with the lives of the young people by home visits, school events and hospital visits. This also includes being aware of current youth development and culture.
I also put a lot of effort into fostering open communication with parents and leaders and assure every youth activity focuses entirely on building mature youth of the church.
What I Love About Christ Fellowship:
It’s a joy to be plugged into the family here at Christ Fellowship. I enjoy the intentionality of every detail of every decision to make sure it reflects Christ.
How I Ended Up at Christ Fellowship:
I have found that those times when I get outside of my comfort zone are some of most joyful and rewarding times in my Christian walk. I was comfortable and happy at my old church, but when I was presented with the opportunity to come to Christ Fellowship I decided to explore the unknown again to see how far God would stretch me.
Before Christ Fellowship:
I’ve been doing student ministry since the summer of 2006. I worked on staff at TBarM Christian Camp every summer during my college years. Then began work in a church as a youth minister in 2010. I’ve been attending my previous church since my teenage years so I felt like it was a good time to start listening to possibilities of different opportunities. I was then presented with the chance to serve on staff at Christ Fellowship and accepted the position in 2013.
How I Met Jesus:
I was a senior in high school when I came to know the Lord. I had little desire to go to church or do anything that had to do with Jesus, but someone creatively tricked me into going to a Sunday night “concert.” Well, this concert turned out to be a youth group praise and worship night. I was mad at first because I thought it was a date, but my heart slowly melted and I surrendered my life to Christ that very night.
Favorite Bible Verse:
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
I like to dabble in a little bit of everything. Kayaking, guitar, making funny videos, mountain biking, jet skiing, live music, and even some motorcycle restoration.
Random Fun Fact:
My favorite snack is a big ol’ spoonful of peanut butter and a tall glass of milk.
