Robyn Trantham – Children’s 5th Grade Director
What I Do:
I provide overall support for the 5th grade ministry in casting Christ Fellowship’s vision that all children find and follow Christ. Under the leadership of the Children Ministry Pastors and Promiseland, I support our 5th grade team with the strategic direction and implementation of all 5th grade ministry activities. Serving alongside our Christ Fellowship family, I strive to develop meaningful relationships with staff, leadership, volunteers, parents and children. I am present and available each Sunday morning to assist our leaders in implementing age appropriate curriculum, games and activities. Promoting and fully embracing the strategic direction of Christ Fellowship, the 5th grade ministry is able to engage in all four practices of Christ Fellowship.
What I Love About Christ Fellowship:
Wow, where do I start! I love the family and overall people-oriented atmosphere at Christ Fellowship. When I say “family and people-oriented atmosphere,” I mean how Christ Fellowship’s pastors, leadership, staff and members fully support the family and the individual. By providing sound biblical teaching, a culture of true worship, creative and engaging Children’s and Student Ministries, and meeting people, all people, exactly where they are on their personal journeys. In promoting the small group approach throughout all age groups, our large church still feels small and more intimate, allowing all individuals to truly to find and follow Christ. The biblical vision cast by the leading of the Holy Spirit and the obedience of our leadership has allowed Christ Fellowship’s transparency to be admired by each visitor, member, and the community as a whole. It is a great privilege to serve in this community of believers!
How I Ended Up at Christ Fellowship:
We moved here in 2015 and remembered visiting Christ Fellowship many years ago. We wanted a dynamic Children’s and Student Ministry for our three children, and remembered how we felt during our previous visits. After visiting again for just one Sunday, our family quickly knew this was our church home.
Before Christ Fellowship:
I was on staff with another church in Plano for a few years when our children were young, serving as the Children’s Ministry Director and worked at church-led preschool as a Pre-K Chapel Teacher. In 2007, we were offered an opportunity with Apartment Life to live among and minister to an apartment community in Las Colinas. Unfortunately, we had to leave our long-time church home and I resigned my Children’s Ministry Director position to focus on our apartment community and to care for our growing family. In 2009 we found out that our third child was to be born later that year; my husband and I completed our mission with Apartment Life and moved back to the Plano area. Our church was now an hour away, and it was almost impossible for us to be involved and serve at the level we felt led to. We decided to look for a new church home in the Plano area, but never really found a community that we all felt a part of. During this time, we began the great adventure of homeschooling and became involved in the local homeschool community. We met many like-minded families that attended Christ Fellowship, so we were very familiar with the CF culture. Fast forward to 2015, we moved to McKinney and are so blessed to now be serving at Christ Fellowship.
How I Met Jesus:
My family went to church for as long as I can remember, but it was more of a “thing that you just do,” like checking off a list of to-do items. Though I knew Jesus as the One who saved me from my sins, I was never taught to know him intimately, or that he wanted to know me intimately through a two-way relationship. In my early twenties, I was still attending this same church, on and off with my parents. During this time, I met Scot, my husband. With his leading, we decided to find our own church on Sunday mornings. It was here that we found Christ personally, took all of our pre-marital counseling, and married in 2001. I rededicated my life in 2005 andvwas baptized again.
Favorite Bible Verse:
The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set junipers in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together, so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it. Isaiah 41:17-20
