What I Love About Christ Fellowship:
I love that Christ Fellowship genuinely belongs to Christ. I love that our strongest attribute is our dependence on our Lord and His direction and leading. People can come to the church without pretense and feel loved and accepted.
How I Ended Up at Christ Fellowship:
I was part of the original church plant from North. I had moved to McKinney from California 5 years earlier and knew of the need for a bible church in the McKinney area. When Bruce announced that he was starting the church plant I quickly became interested in being part of the new church. It took me a few months to hand off my responsibilities in the children’s ministry at North but I came as soon as I could.
Before Christ Fellowship:
Before moving to Texas I lived in California where we attended Saddleback Community Church. At the time, Saddleback was in the beginning stages and we met in a high School Gym. We clearly saw the Lord working through Rick Warren and marveled at how the Lord used him to reach un-churched people. When we moved to Texas we searched for a similar church and finally settled on Gene Getz’s church in Plano. We loved the small group concept and quickly got involved in a life group. We had young children and spent most of our time shuttling them from event to event.
How I Met Jesus:
The Lord used a non-Christian friend to reach me. I was sitting in a car with my best friend and to my surprise, he randomly brought up how he had recently gone to church with his sister and felt that the preacher had singled him out in the sermon. I asked him what the preacher had said and as he told me, the words went right to my soul. After dropping him off at his house, I accepted Christ, alone in my car during my thirty minute drive back home. Some weeks after, he also accepted Christ.
Favorite Bible Verse:
I really don’t have a favorite verse but I my favorite book/chapter is Psalm 139.
I love anything outdoors but mostly have a love for fishing, caught from my grandfather who took the time teach me.
Random Fun Fact:
I love kids because I still feel like one. My wife calls me the “pied piper” whenever there is a group of young children around.
