3e McKinney Webb Elementary School Adoption
one school… one class… one child at a time
Impact the Lives of Children
Christ Fellowship is excited to partner with J. W. Webb Elementary School in the 3eMcKinney Adopt-A-School program. Serving Webb is an opportunity for us to walk alongside the families, staff and students. Below are ways you can be involved as an individual or Life Group:
Tutors and reading buddies are needed for grades K–5. Teachers provide the lessons and materials. Please consider helping a student achieve success by working with students once a week. Tutors are an extra boost for those learners who need even more support.
A mentor is a guide, a trusted friend, an encourager, a listener and a role model for an assigned student who needs consistent support and encouragement. Anyone can be a mentor! All you need is a caring heart, a loving spirit, a sense of commitment, and one hour a week.
Teachers are always appreciative of a volunteer in the classroom. The teacher will have a variety of things for you to do that might include working with a small group of children, reading with students, monitoring a learning station, or helping to prepare materials. You get to know the kids and they look forward to your visits.
Teachers will be treated once a month (or more often!) with a special snack in the Teachers’ Lunchroom. Once or twice a month a small treat or note in teachers’ boxes would be an encouragement to the dedicated staff. Luncheons in the fall and spring will be offered to celebrate the hard work of the teachers and staff. We are looking for Life Groups to host a luncheon or provide a treat!
You can also help as lunch pal, breakfast buddy, library helper, technology support for students and chess club.
After you sign up to help, follow these steps to volunteer with McKinney ISD:
- Each person volunteering in the school system must submit information for a background check via the McKinney ISD Website: mckinneyisd.net
- To apply, click on “Parent Resources,” then “Volunteers” and fill in the information on the secure web page.
- Select Webb Elementary and any other schools of your choice.
- Once the application is processed and the criminal background check is complete, you will receive an e-mail notification regarding your application from the MISD Human Resources Department.
